Pressure Reducing and Sustaining Valve - Main Product Image

Dual-function control valve for reducing downstream pressure and sustaining minimum upstream pressure

Overview

A Pressure Reducing and Sustaining Valve (PRSV) is a hydraulically operated, self-actuated control valve designed to reduce high inlet pressure to a constant lower downstream pressure, while simultaneously sustaining a minimum upstream pressure.

This dual-function valve is widely used in water supply networks, pumping systems, irrigation lines, and industrial pipelines to protect equipment and ensure stable system operation.

Quick Overview

  • Dual-function operation
  • Hydraulically operated
  • Self-actuated
  • No external power required
  • Automatic pressure control

Working Principle

The Pressure Reducing and Sustaining Valve operates automatically using line pressure as the driving force, without the need for external power.

  • When downstream pressure rises above the set value, the valve modulates toward closing to reduce pressure.
  • When upstream pressure drops below the minimum set level, the valve restricts flow to sustain the required upstream pressure.
  • The valve continuously adjusts its position to maintain balanced pressure conditions on both sides.

This ensures safe operation, prevents pressure fluctuations, and protects pipelines and downstream equipment.

Key Functions

  • Reduces downstream pressure to a preset safe level
  • Sustains minimum upstream pressure
  • Prevents pressure surges and pipeline damage
  • Ensures stable flow and system reliability
